How Debit Cards Work
Not sure how debit cards work? Here´s how:

Use your Visa debit card anywhere Visa credit cards are accepted. Present your Visa debit card to the merchant to pay for your transaction, just like you would a credit card. The card looks just like a credit card (green marble, with the Visa logo).

If the merchant asks you "Debit or Credit",

ALWAYS SAY CREDIT.

Why say credit if you´re using a debit card? Because the transaction is easier for you if you say credit. All you´ll have to do is sign a transaction receipt, and there´s no fee for the transaction. If you say debit, you´ll have to enter your pin, and you´ll be charged the $1.00 PIN-based transaction fee.

Your transactions are approved based on the amount available in your checking account and will be automatically deducted from your checking account.

No checks to write, no checkbook to carry, no digging for your ID, no fingerprinting (Yes, some merchants actually do fingerprint you before they´ll take your check!). Just quick and easy. That´s why more people use debit cards than credit cards!

Give your debit card a try, and you´ll be sold.

Doubles as Your ATM Card
You don´t need to carry a second card to use ATM´s. Your debit card doubles as your ATM card. Use the card and your PIN at virtually any ATM machine anywhere to get cash, just like an "old fashioned" ATM card.
